Entry tags:pop/culture, request line, that one week a year when i love tennis

and by "love" I do not mean "zero"
Every year at about this time, I discover a deep love for tennis and/or James Blake. The problem is, for me, watching tennis is sort of like listening to Alizee: I love it, but I have no idea what's going on. Love, 15, 30, 40, game, right? And a match is all the games played, and a set is...somewhere in between there? Can anybody direct me to a good, simple guide to tennis for viewers? Thanks.

I don't know about any good, simple guide, but this is what I know from my illustrious career as a tennis doubles star:

A game is obviously...a game. You win when you get to 40 and then game point. LOL.

A set consists of a certain number of games, usually odd. In hs we played 5 games a set, but it might be different for professional tennis. Best of {enter number here} wins the set.

A match consists of a certain number of sets, again usually odd. We did 3 (and if you won the first 2 you didn't have to play the third), but again, it might be a different number for professional tennis.

Tadaaaa!

I would point you to the Wiki explanation on scoring, but...really, it's weird, so..yeah. LOL. I mean, it's not bad, I guess, but...weird.
