I'm listening to "Taking Chances" right now, and you know, I think it's fine for Celine. I can hear the glint from Celine's voice giving a cutting edge to "you don't know about my past," etc. Celine'd get too swoopy and soaring when the chorus revs its sound up the second time through, however. (She could always choose not to rev the sound up, of course, but then she'd have to have the aesthetic smarts to deny the song a conventional payoff. But then Kara and Dave didn't have the sense not to rev it up, either.)
